BIOLOGICAL ROOTS OF BEAUTY
All children are born artists but the manner in which art is conducted today clearly creates several non – artists and very few artists due to various factors ; the main factors being the focus on skills and the final product. In fact the very notion of art itself needs to be relooked at. Beauty and creativity are the fundamental principles of being alive. These are rooted in our biology, the original stuff we are made of. Eliminating senses and beauty from our educational process has not only killed true creativity- creativity that enables us to create knowledge- but has produced beauty-disabled people. The real learning disability is caused by this educational process. The learning disability that is now being spoken of is ,in fact, our inability to adjust to the wrong educational process, our inability to shift from world to the word.
Reclaiming the PROCESS
If we were to focus on the ‘process’ of making ‘art’ rather than teaching skills, children would acquire qualities related to OBSERVATION, develop patience and interest. That would make them present and hence meditative. With such an approach all the participants are directly connected to the various aspects of nature, establishing one to one relationship with the beauty around and this will naturally takes to the realm of the unknown.
